About Ruth & Ruth’s blog

This blog details the adventures, misadventures, frustrations and tiny triumphs as I am treated for secondary breast cancer. Its purpose is: A) To keep the cancer in its place, well away from my “real” life and B) To document that not all cancer journeys are short, swift and inevitably downhill into the grave within a matter of weeks.
Forget everything you thought you knew about cancer and cancer treatments and Now Read On…..

I love your site. Keep it up !
Wow, Ruth – go girl go! This has all the makings of your big publishing break. I have NEVER read anything so original, gritty, witty, shitty and generally amazing. I was asked a while back if I felt able to write about my post-radiotherapy experience of depression (which wasn’t supposed to happen when they first discovered the lumpectomy-chemo-radio combination of treatment but very rapidly manifested itself in exactly the same number of women as had complete mastectomies on day 1) as there was a lack of articles in the medical press (I declined at the time – just wanted to forget it as quickly as possible), and I really think you should bring your blog to the attention of all and sundry near and far, and most particularly the medics. (OK so you might have to anonymise bits of it, but that would be a small price for the good it could do.) Apologies if you’ve already thought of this, but I am so blown away by your de-mystification and normalisation of the whole thing that I just had to say something! (Besides, think of the cash you could rake in…)
Funny you should say that….! I’ve also got copies of (most of) the email diaries I sent out, first time round. The fact this is in a public forum shows it is for public consumption; maybe I should see about getting my blog a wider audience and I can become one of those internet phenomenomenomenomenomenom!
You know, you really are an amazing person. Just amazing.
schmoos!
I had no idea you were going through this until today, when you posted the link on FB… like Tess, I admire your grit, tenacity and fire. I hope we can meet in person one day…
schmoos too!
My Mum would be so proud of you! You would definitely be down in her book of Mighty Women Heroes. Given your intentions vis a vis Social Services, she would, I am sure, award you her ultimate accolade, so on her behalf, and from the very bottom of my heart (and heart of my…no we won’t go there) I hereby pronounce you one very NAUGHTY CORINTHIAN. Be inspired!
